Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a Title I school where almost all of the children receive free lunch, most of my students come from very low poverty households as first-generation Americans here for "The American Dream".
We are located in one of the oldest, yet poorest neighborhoods of Staten Island where some of my students lost their homes due to Hurricane Sandy.
On a daily basis, where I am happy that my students had the opportunity to complete their homework, I am amazed beyond belief at their dedication to reading, writing, and math. There is no greater joy than doing everything I can for my students so that they achieve the "American Dream" in school.
My Project
My students need eleven Chromebooks to interact with for STEM virtual Labs and research. They will use these materials to explore their ability through building, drawing, modeling, and making inferences to the real world. These activities will be used during STEM times throughout the day as explore the world around us together. They will be able to use these Chromebooks during our whole group and small group time, learning Scientific skills while working with their peers.
Your generous donation to our project will improve our 3rd Grade classroom by building a stronger STEM-based learning community.
This will change our students' lives for the better. They will love school and feel success at an early age --- having fun while learning.
