This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in Los Angeles where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students start the day, everyday, hopeful of what we will learn in class that day.

I ask them, "Why did you come to school today?" and they reply, "To change the world!" My students know that I believe in them and that with passion, determination, and positive outlook of their potential they can be anything they want to be.

All of my students qualify for complimentary school district provided meals, before, during and after school. Despite so many challenges, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

The Snap Circuit is awesome! Teaching young children about the electrical circuit is a rewarding and important activity. Teaching them well will allow them to have a good knowledge base from which to progress with their scientific understanding. Using simple analogies, and by reinforcing the basics, I will be able to help my kindergarten students learn about the simple electrical circuit, and give them a sound theoretical grounding. Using this, they will be able to progress with their STEM learning and deal later with more complex scientific concepts.

By putting circuit building within reach of my students as early as possible, we increase their understanding of the unseen world of electronics around them.
