My Students

Every day, I walk into my classroom,eager to see the little faces waiting for me outside the door. When I ask them if they are ready to learn I always hear an excited chorus of "Yes Teacher!" My Kindergarten students are a bright and inquisitive group of children who love to question and explore!

I teach at a fairly small neighborhood school that is filled with a variety of children from different backgrounds.

Some of my students have access to technology, science and other enriching activities outside of school while other students are struggling to eat three solid meals a day. The one thing these children all have in common is their desire to learn and be successful.

My Project

Teaching science and math is not enough! My students need to be able to explore, test and challenge themselves. This can only be achieved by allowing the kids to be independent problem solvers. The STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) kits and math boards will accomplish just that! My students will be able to interact with the kits as well as each other as well as learn how to experiment and work as a team. My goal for my students is for them to leave Kindergarten feeling confident in their abilities to think outside of the box and find solutions or create solutions themselves...qualities that innovative companies such as Chevron will be looking for in their future employees!

My students are bright and inquisitive but do not always have the means to access enrichment activities that will help them in their futures.

These STEM kits and math boards will bring my kids one step closer to bridging the achievement gap. The Chevron Fuel Your School campaign will truly fuel my kids desires to learn and expand their thinking!
