My students need a MAKERBOT and a CNC Router Cutter/Engraver to Master STEM concepts through discovery.

My Students

My STEM students are growing in their interest and ability to innovate. Although they may be at different stages of innovative thought, my students share at least two traits.

They are eager to design and build their own unique projects and they are interested in learning and applying new tools.

Our Charter school has a mixed population of 64% Title I (unduplicated Count) students from predominantly urban settings.

Students of all races and a number of ethnic backgrounds work together in a safe and secure environment. Our school demographics are as follows: 3.8% Asian, 31.2% Afro-American, 30.1% Hispanic 5.9% multiracial, and 29.0% White. Students at our school are motivated and enthusiastic when given the opportunity to show their inventiveness and talents.

My Project

Our students are excited by learning through action. Experiential learning allows them to experience the world in ways that books will never allow. The equipment and hardware included in this project are selected to complement a series of other materials, tools and devices that our students already use to design, code and build and or to accomplish research tasks. The projects that our students complete excite and satisfy them. Ultimately, these activities build confident, knowledgeable young adults that are able to lead based on experience.

The MakerBot 3D Printer in combination with the CNC Router will enhance our student’s ability to create finer and more precise projects, in less time.

These devices will be used to create parts, some of which will be used in robots and remotely operated vehicles. All of these adventures will lead our youth to new and long lasting discoveries.
