My students love exploring the realm of STEM and figuring out solutions to so many types of problems! In my Baltimore school, our third grade model is structured in a way that I teach two sections of third grade, totalling about 50 students. These students have diverse needs and learning styles which requires innovative approaches to teaching and access to variety of materials. As a teacher in my district, responsibility falls on me to provide and fund additional resources to make my classroom abundant in rich educational experiences.
Students in the Baltimore urban educational settings are as curious and innovative as any children around the globe.
I am growing the minds of future engineers, mathematicians, and leaders of the 21st century. Donors Choose provides a pathway to developing these minds with projects that will inspire STEM-based learning. These opportunities will help to inspire and mold students into globally responsible citizens and future-makers that will improve our world!
Running a math and science classroom has many moving parts. In third grade, students are working with hands-on manipulatives, technology, as well as traditional paper-pencil activities. This project provides a technology resource that all students will access.
My academic model includes teaching students in small groups which requites various activities to meet students' diverse needs.
The two Samsung Galaxy tablets are tools that will provide students with additional learning and extra practice on skills taught in small group rotations. The tablets are equipped with the ability to run applications and educational websites to enhance learning as well as provide intervention.
Students will access digital field trips such as visiting websites about space, engineering and wildlife habitats. Students will use the tablets to conduct independent and group research that will enhance their knowledge about the world of STEM.
