I work in a low-income school district in Washington state where 100% of my students receive free meals at school

My students are migrant learners who live on a reservation. They are eager to learn despite the odds they have against them in their lives. At our school, we do everything we can to help them be college and career ready. This includes being people who are hard workers and excited to learn.

My Project

My students LOVE being scientists! It blows my mind every time I see my kindergartners transform into scientists and engineers! They love discovering things about the world through hands-on experimentation and activities. The materials I am requesting will help make that happen. With these items, my students will be able to explore and learn about a variety of scientific concepts. My students will become engineers and design different robots, cars, and machines using the Krazy gears, robot kits, and circuit kits! The Hot Dots are a fun way to teach the kids science facts. I will be able to supplement my instruction with hands-on activities that will inspire my students to continue to learn.

With your help, I will be able to provide fun learning experiments in science and engineering for my kinders and change their lives for the better!

Using the pumping heart by Learning Resources and squishy body by SmartLab will keep my students engaged while learning about the human body and its functions. We get to do a dinosaur study as well. The modeling clay will allow my students to make fossils and dinosaur bones. The silicone dinosaur molds will allow my students to make dinosaur figures they can eat and take home. These STEM activities and projects will serve as an educational foundation that will blossom into a love of learning, starting at an early age and continuing into adulthood.
