Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My students love learning . They enjoy our AMSTI/STEM curriculum- but one of the biggest problems is printing. We need a colored efficient printer with ink for our projects , especially since I have 75 students.

Many of our projects rely on my computer for the smart board and it simply doesn’t have the memory when we are on Zoom meetings with STEM or STEAM .

It also isn’t able to process many applications sent to me by other teachers and organizations,our students are Title One and need all the experiences we can provide to enrich their lives for better understanding especially in the sciences .

Fourth grade students take Science state testing for the first time; standardized testing is stressful for many students. Every thing I can do to help my students understand concepts better such as “ see “ the world in “ color “ with a higher quality colored printer will prove beneficial.

My students are beginning to code since I’m the gateway for them to begin learning about robotics in 4th grade for the 5th grade team. Currently, my laptop won’t access the applications ( due to insufficient memory) to run my Lego Dacta Stem Robotics programs .

In addition, I am unable to access the applications necessary to help prepare for the Greenpower program, as well which also begins in 5th grade .

So in conclusion, this year alone I have worked with the AMSTI/ STEM regional director 4-6 times about energy units for my 75 students .. luckily ; she ran all copies at University of Alabama at Huntsville . When I had 6 student teachers come to my class for science this Spring , their professor made all copies at Alabama A & M.
