My Students
We are maintaining a creative learning environment in our classroom! My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of lack of supplies and resources.
Our school is nestled in the heart of Miami, Florida which is located in an inner city neighborhood. Many of our families often struggle to meet everyday basic needs.
Each student in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting the basic supplies needed for our classroom during writing lessons, share time, and, hopefully, publications.
The wireless printer would be used by any student who needs it.
The black toner will be used throughout the school year to replace empty cartridges in our printers. The copy paper will be used by the students so that they can create and print short stories, poems, and illustrations for books, and it will help the Writer's Workshop process run smoothly from day to day. Any carton(s) of copy paper not in use at specific times will be stored in a secure cabinet inside our classroom until ready for use.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful writing.
By implementing the Writer's Workshop model, my students will begin to see themselves as true authors and illustrators. We will use these materials to aid us in the process of becoming lifelong writers. Additionally, the donations will help increase my students' literacy as well as their desire to explore their passion for all things STEM.
As the teacher, I have done extensive research and reading on Writer's Workshops to enhance my students' passion for writing, yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
