Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a bilingual teacher in a low-income and high poverty school district, my students are faced with various challenges in and out of the classroom. My desire is to maintain a positive learning experience so that my students become motivated learners.
My students are innovative, bright and very inquisitive.
They like to work in groups, they enjoy reading and especially positive attention. Many of them are below the poverty level and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These experiences may prevent them from getting ahead early in life. I hope to inspire my students on a path of academic achievement.
My Project
My students are curious and love to learn about Science STEM. The Scholastic Science magazine will help them to apply STEM knowledge to further their education. The Scholastic Science magazines are engaging to even the most reluctant reader. Also, the graphics help the students in making world connections, while allowing them a glimpse into a subject they would other wise not have found interesting.
The Scholastic Science Magazine also includes a technology video that showcases careers in STEM.
These videos will inspire my students to commit to their own personal growth goals. In conclusion, this resource will be an investment in their future.
