This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My research club is comprised of amazing middle school and high school students trying to solve real life problems through STEM Research (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Materials and reagents are however expensive. For this school year, my research club students are working on a wide variety of projects from animal and plant sciences, to microbiology, to Earth and environmental science, and biochemistry. Having the colorimeter vernier, sensors, and chemicals would help us become better researchers and scientists.
These students are aspiring to qualify again this year for the upcoming International Science and Engineering Fair.
One of my students is working on research on how to mitigate harmful algae blooms using Novel enzymes. Another student is working on the effects of different plant extracts native in different developing countries against a tooth decay-causing bacteria. Furthermore, another student will be working on a project about how different sound frequencies affect the growth of bacteria. Lastly, a group of student will be researching of ways on extracting chitosan and its possible applications.
All my students belong to low income group and underserved group of students in the field of STEM. With all the previous help and generosity of our donors, these students proved that anyone can be a scientists. On behalf of my students, we are extending our sincerest thanks and gratitude.
