Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school serves Title 1 students, who are very culturally diverse and often come from families just striving to make ends meet. Having opportunities for them to grow using STEM and imagination would be huge for them. They are especially motivated by systems which support positive behavior, and having new items in our rewards bin would be a huge help with our classroom management and behavior.
Students deserve to thrive, and through our Donors Choose donations, we will be able to help them succeed.
One major way we can utilize the building blocks and magnet tiles is by letting our students utilize these items during our building challenges and when we learn about gravity, engineering, and exploration. Many of our students do not have items like this at home or time they are given to just play, as elementary students should be given. Through the implementation of our rewards system last year, we have seen attendance increase and positive behaviors increase. This means that our students are spending more days at school, receiving the education they need to succeed, and receiving positive reinforcement to continue to act responsibly and respectfully. These prizes would make them smile and want to continue attending school.
