This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the best job in the world and I am blessed to be inspired every day by my students. I have the pleasure of working with 150 students, from 6th through 8th grade who are just waiting for me to tap in to their potential each day. My students inspire me to find ways to ignite their passion for learning STEM.
Over 70% of our population is statistically underrepresented and currently qualifies for Free and Reduced Lunch.
Seventy-Two percent of our school population is represented by the Latino and African American populations. The STEM classes we offer, provide our students an environment where they can be creative, problem solve, think critically and work together as they tap into their own personal passions.
My Project
My overall goal in our STEM class is to create a space where students feel comfortable and confident to collaborate together. I would like to provide 4 collaborative working areas, each with a television set up with Chromecast. These collaborative working areas will allow students to broadcast their Chromebook up on the TV for the entire team to see. They can quickly switch devices to showcase as they work on different parts of their project. I want to give my students the opportunity to work together, explore and take ownership of their own learning as they prepare for high school, college and future careers.
