STEM - Ozobot Coding

My students need the Ozobot coding robots and accessories so that they can learn the basics of coding and move onto more complex coding systems.

My Students

Everybody is gifted, but if we continue to judge a fish by how well it can climb a tree, it will live its entire life believing that it's stupid. I am trying to create a STEM classroom with no funding. I desire to give all my students exposure to many things they will not get the opportunity to try on their own.

I work with the most wonderful students and families.

We have students from a variety of demographics. I try to create a safe learning environment which helps to create confidence in my students to explore interests they may have. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds, and their home life is just as varied. We work with students who are being raised by their parents as well as students being raised by grandparents and great grandparents. Some students may have a few relatives living with them or they may be homeless. It is so rewarding to see them take ownership in their learning and help them create an environment they have control over.

My Project

Ozobots are FUN!! It is a great way to introduce students to coding. They get to practice understanding what coding involves so they can make the Ozobot move the way they want. We have a First Lego League at our school, and the Ozobots will help us better understand the coding process for more complicated bots like the Legobots.

The Ozobots will be used directly by the students at our school, and by teaching STEM in the younger grades they will get a little experience in a safe learning environment.

I hope to find a "SPARK" that will light the fire so that they desire to gain knowledge, and they will want to become a participating member in society and their light will shine so bright that they can light someone else's fire.
