My Students

My students come from various backgrounds. I teach in a low-income high-poverty district, where all students qualify to receive free school breakfast and lunch. I have a high population of English Language Learners in my classroom.

My first graders are extremely hard workers.

They are curious, loving and kind. Despite their backgrounds, my students come to school every day ready to learn. They never give up and know that they are too smart to guess. We know that learning never stops.

My Project

This project is requesting three design and build engineering centers designed for open-ended building and creative exploration. These centers would be part of our morning tubs, which help ease our way into learning with engaging learning options like this!

STEM for 1st grade can be difficult without the right materials, but these centers are designed for minimal teacher involvement.

That means my students do 100% of the thinking AND learning. Our morning work is morning tubs for this reason! I want students to enter the day with creative thinking, imagination, engagement, and a calm way into our day. Learning that is fun is ALWAYS the best way to start the day!
