Help me give my students more resources to grow their mathematical thinking through building community, projects, math games, duct tape crafts, and activities. Also, more opportunities for group work on vertical whiteboards(whiteboard contact paper) around the room.
Our fourth graders walk into my math class with opportunities and experiences that push them towards mastery and application of mathematical thinking like they have never experienced before. My class is not a sit-and-listen environment. It is a move-and-do setting where everyone builds their own learning. In order to keep this level of learning, we are in need of consumable supplies we have used up as well as new resources to continue growing and reaching all student learning needs. These include whiteboard contact paper, bingo chips, duct tape, loom bands, clipboards, and sticky notes.
Children learn best through doing things they enjoy.
These supplies allow for more genuine learning opportunities. Students see that math is not just numbers on a worksheet but embedded in the patterns and creativity they have within.
Together these supplies help shape the unique experience students need to see math as a creative, flexible, and exciting content that they can pursue throughout their lives. They learn to love math and love the opportunities mathematical thinking builds inside an engaged learner.
