This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a Title I School in a public district facing many needs and challenges every day. However, our "Pioneer Spirit" is alive - we work hard to stay ahead of the changing educational demands of our communities, students, and families. Our students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. In my school building, most students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Despite our many challenges, every student I have encountered in the community has a special spirit about them.
My students are inspiring, loving, curious, and ready to do their best.
I am excited to give them the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in our classroom and beyond!
My Project
Students will be working in an environment that allows flexibility and creativity while promoting problem solving skills. They will build, construct, imagine, design, problem solve, collaborate, and create during a Maker Space time. It will also boost fine motor skills while promoting reasoning and problem solving as children create. We need our elementary students ready for the future. To do that, they need to have practical, real-world opportunities with engineering, mathematics, and problem-solving.
These materials will allow my students the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity while supporting STEM activities by sorting, counting, creating, designing, and sharing.
The ETA Hand 2 Mind STEM kit will give all students the opportunity to learn about the world of STEM in a variety of hands on activities. Children need to be exposed to a variety of resources at a young age so they realize all of the possibilities that STEM has to offer!
