Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.
The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
My Project
My students are incredibly curious and creative 4th graders. I see them engaged in critical thinking and problem solving. By having access to a variety of engineering-focused activities, my students will develop their creativity and critical thinking skills.

The activities in this project include robots my students can code with including two Spheros and hexbugs and Blocks Rock, a strategic thinking game they can play in teams. With these activities, we will continue to develop our scientific minds and build a stronger classroom community. It is an exciting prospect!
My students have so much passion for learning and for creating--we need more opportunities to expand our perspectives and our creativity.
