Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our neighborhood is just north of downtown Dallas. Because many of our students stay in our school from kindergarten to graduation, our campus has a family atmosphere. Our student body is made up of many English language learners and more than seventy percent qualify for free lunch. Reading is our highest priority. It is crucial for our students to build background knowledge and vocabulary in order to become fluent readers. For many English Language learners, this may only happen at school.
My Project
Our students will have access to innovative STEM tools and apps. They will learn and grow with meaningful, engaging, hands-on exploration. Our students will be able to construct new knowledge through STEM-focused, science-centered, and maker-oriented curriculum. These materials will be used during our weekly Club program which takes place every Wednesday morning-first thing.
Our students will be equipped with the STEM, Makerspace, digital tools, and innovative learning experiences needed to thrive in the 21st century and beyond.
Makerspaces can and should be found across all grade levels and all content areas. Hands-on, authentic, meaningful experiences change learning for kids. This is why we are asking for these materials. These kits will transform our campus into a true STEM program for all primary grades from K to 5th.
