My Students
My AP Calculus students hold the potential to become the next generation of scientists and engineers. Living in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, many of my students are immigrants and first generation who come from the Caribbean and from South Asia.
My Project
I am beginning a classroom library to help expose my AP Calculus students to careers in STEM fields. I find that many students do not see the connection between math and science, technology and engineering. By exposing students to different STEM careers, I hope to get my AP Calculus and Pre-Calculus students excited about their futures! These books are easy to read, yet give a thorough explanation of many career paths in engineering. By learning about engineering careers, students can see why math is relevant to their futures. Please help me to plant the seed of interest in higher level mathematics!
