We are an energetic group of kindergarten learners! My class is full of very active and engaged kids. My kids love coming to school each day to be learners. We fill our days with many activities and learning games to help our brains get smarter. I have many highly engaged and high level thinkers in my classroom. Keeping them interested and excited about learning is a fun challenge I face each and every day. I want to make learning fun for each and every one of my students, regardless of their prior knowledge or level of learning.
My Project
I love to challenge my students to persevere and work hard to accomplish daily tasks in our classroom. Lego kits are a great way to teach these skills. The kids get to see a picture of their end goal and if they follow directions correctly, they can succeed in building their creation. Lego Kits are a great STEM tool to show kids different ways to build and create things. We already have a small collection of Lego kits in my classroom, which my students really enjoy. It is time to expand their choices and give them more challenges.
I am particularly interested in getting some kits that may appeal more to my little girls.
I want to teach my girls that they can also engage in engineering tasks with success. By increasing the choices and level of difficulty with these Lego Kits I hope to allow even more of my students the chance to become master builders!
Additionally, these kits are excellent for fine motor development. It is very important for my students to build up the muscles in their fingers to help them become a better writer. By using their finger muscles to connect and pull apart pieces as well as manipulate the small Lego pieces, my students are working out and strengthening those very important muscles!
