This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a second-year educator, I teach third grade at a wonderful school located in Detroit. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and family structures.

We have beautiful students who are always motivated to learn!

As an educator, I strive to provide them with the best opportunities for aiding their education. It is essential that teachers can provide their students with materials that allow them to learn in ways that meet their various unique needs. Children need a chance to experiment as they learn, and I aim to provide that.

My Project

Virtual reality is an exciting new tool to teach science and engineering in the classroom. It provides the students the opportunity to take a field trip without leaving the classroom! Research has confirmed that students who have visual aids in the classroom do 10% better on assessments than in the traditional setting.

We are striving to provide students with 21st century skills - VR fits into that wonderfully.

As a teacher I'm always looking for ways to help prepare my students for the future. We will use VR to take engaging and memorable virtual reality field trips. Virtual reality will provide my students with the option to interact with the curriculum in new way.

This Virtual Reality set allows students to experience science - such as travel to outer space and to the depths of the ocean - without leaving the classroom! This Virtual Reality equipment will allow them to visit inspirational places around the globe and in our universe - within a fun fashion - and without leaving the classroom!
