My Students

I teach in a low income district where students from various backgrounds come to school to learn. My third-grade students learn in many different ways. Engaging my students in learning is a way for them to forget their troubles and grow and learn to the best of their ability.

My students are comprised of energy, cultural diversity, varying academic abilities, happiness, sadness, and a zest for learning.

They need to be taught in a way that reaches them. They need to be presented information in diverse and engaging ways. The science materials requested will help me teach them STEM in a multifaceted manner. A big learning for me, while teaching at a STEM school for the past 2 years, is that students at any ability level can learn through hands on learning and collaboration. My job is to create these learning experiences through use of varying activities. Your help is appreciated.

My Project

As a STEM school my students need a multitude of learning opportunities where they can grasp concepts. Integrating science, technology, engineering and math is challenging without the tools necessary to make it work. Additional supplies such as challenges, books about science topics, and real life examples will enable my students to immerse themselves in learning in a fun and engaging way.

I can picture my students excitement each morning as they check their Watch and Record Plant Lab to see if their plant has grown over night.

They are talking with classmates, measuring, watering, comparing, and discussing differences all before true learning is suppose to begin. This is the classroom environment I aspire to have all year. These supplies will help me reach this classroom learning culture.
