Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of teaching a diverse group of 20 learners from a wide variety of backgrounds. Many of these students come from disadvantaged communities and low income households. Many of them are also English Language Learners, in which Spanish is their first language. The community and neighborhood surrounding our school is predominantly Hispanic. They are a good group of students because they put forth the effort in their learning. They come to school on time and love to explore tons of things on the computer.

My Project

This year our school is focusing on earning STEAM designation. As part of this endeavor, I've decided to incorporate more technology during my Science lessons. This year I will be encouraging my students to work collaboratively to research different topics pertaining to STEM. I want my students to use this information so they are able to apply it to hands-on science labs.

We are currently learning about Earth and Space.

The laptop will be used to have the students research different constellations and books on a program called, My-On, about Earth and Space. They will research and record information about the constellations they have found. They will then present this information to the class. The laptop will also be used to provide opportunities for academic enrichment and remediation.
