My Students

What better way to learn about Physics than to build and test your own models!

Beechwood STEM lab services 7th and 8th grades students at an International Baccalaureate World School in California.

The goal of the STEM lab is to inspire students to be creative problem solvers and encourage them to enter the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

My Project

Students love to be given the opportunity to build models and test them. The supplies we are asking for will allow students to test out various theories of applied Physics that they have learned about in class. The gliders and rubber band driven airplanes request will help teach about aerodynamics. Bridge construction will be taught with the toothpicks and the teacher's manual for bridge building. Finally the simple machines kit will teach about simple machines and let us do Rube Goldberg style activities.

This project takes the students beyond theory and into practice.

They get to take their knowledge and actually build and then test their own designs. Practical experience is a key component to learning new ideas.
