Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students in the BS are some of the nicest, sweetest, and hardworking kids I have had the pleasure of teaching. They come to this school as a choice and work hard to succeed in every way, even if they hit hard times. They enjoying reading and participating in school activities whether it be clubs or sports and try their hardest to be the best. Many of the students greet the teachers with lovely smiles and heartfelt hellos every morning even if they have nothing to really smile about. They certainty make my day with each story they tell and their blossoming personalities.

Many of the students come from impoverished backgrounds and have a tough life once they leave the walls of the school in so many ways.

Our school is one hundred percent free breakfast and lunch which is where a lot of the students get their meals for the day being in this low budget district. Once they leave for the day, they also face the horror of a poor neighborhood with violence and prejudice everywhere they look. This school becomes a second home and a safe haven for them. I love being a part of that.

My Project

Students always learn the best through hands on experiences and fun activities. With no budget to buy materials getting my hands on kits and games to further the exploration of science and math is difficult. With these games and kits students will be able to explore the fun of STEM through building different things and watching how they work. Some of the kits do not have standard builds to them which also allow for student to be creative in their STEM exploration and see what happens with what they create.
