Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and inquisitive children. It is a diverse neighborhood and many students come from low-income households. We just finished celebrating International Week Virtually and it was wonderful to see how the school is diverse and we get to share so many different cultures.

Despite all the learning changes, my students have not lost their thirst for knowledge.

However, they did loose their classroom and all of the materials we use to develop and nurture that knowledge. Gone are the books that they would use for reading time; gone are the math manipulatives, gone are the writing tools.

My Project

While we are in the midst of online learning, I would like to give my Kindergarteners a break from the computer screens. The students do not have many options during this quarantine time - no library to go to and get some books nor is playing on the playground the safest choice anymore.

These STEM kits will tap into their creative and problem solving minds and give their tablets/computer screen time a rest.

Since I can't give them their creative time in the classroom, I would like to give them these kits so they can do it at home. What a better time than now to start thinking creatively and using your imagination!
