Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is filled with 28 vibrant, eager five year olds.
They come from a community filled with poverty, homelessness, and crime but they are filled with hope. When teaching science to my students I would like them to make connections to the science lessons using hands on experiences.
Our school is a public elementary school located in an industrial and commercial community of New York City.
The school has a high African-American and Hispanic population. Many of the students have parents who have newly immigrated to the United States. In spite of it all, these students are motivated to achieve their goals and to make their families proud of their achievements. My students have tried to make connections to the science lessons I teach in class, but the majority struggle to. My students need to use visuals and kinesthetic learning to learn science and become memorable for them.
My Project
The materials will provide my students with hand on experiences. With STEM Science Stations students will explore magnetism, motion and buoyancy—as they complete hands-on experiments and engineering activities! The projects are STEM Science Station – Motion and Push & Pull Magnet Discovery Center, and 2 HP Chromebook. These materials will provide my students with the opportunity to learn about science for using hands-on materials to extend their learning. The materials when learning in science will build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills! With the Chromebook my students will be able to view science videos, play interactive science software.
The project will allow my 24 vibrant, eager five year olds allow them to build critical-thinking and problem-solving skills!
These materials are fundamental for my students progress and learning. Please My students and I will be very grateful.
