Mrs. Tademy-Wells from Houston TX is requesting educational kits & games through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need stimulating hands-on STEM activities in science and math that will connect classroom content and real life activities. K'NEX Elementary Math & Geometry build set is just the start!

I am very grateful to work with such a fantastic group of fourth graders. There are more than six different languages spoken in my classroom alone. These happy, curious, and eager students walk into my classroom everyday willing to do their best despite some of the hardships that is happening right outside their front door and in their daily lives.
Our school is an urban public school that services over 800 students from Pre-k to 4th grade.
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 80% of our students receiving free lunch or reduced lunch. Many of our students receive food backpacks each weekend. We offer several clubs and organizations like GirlStart, Sister to Sister, Brother to Brother, Dare to Dream, G.A.P. and Young Leaders of Tomorrow just to name a few. These extracurricular activities promote and encourage academic success as well as foster positive social skills and build meaningful relationships. Our school is also one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the Houston metro area with students who speak a variety of languages. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics, as well.
My students would love to have the opportunity to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) by designing various math geometric shapes using the K'NEX Education Math and Geometry Set. The Matter Activity Tub, Force and Motion Activity Tub, Force and Motion Activity Lab, and Magnet Activity Lab will allow my students to connect content learned in the classroom with actual hands on learning by manipulating the activities in the containers. Each one of these STEM activities will promote critical thinking. Inquiring about how things work will gradually allow them to build upon their learning thus allowing them to construct more complex projects. Students will be able to apply the scientific process of how things work, while still challenging them. They will use their communication skills as they work with others as co-designers and problem solvers. They will also be risk-takers as they step out of their comfort zone to tackle the challenge of building items with K'NEX Education Math and Geometry Set and exploring the activities in the following tubs and labs: Matter Activity Tub, Force and Motion Activity Tub, Force and Motion Activity Lab and Magnet Activity Lab.
Hurricane Harvey kept us from school for two weeks, but did not stop our desire to focus on STEM projects!
Your generous donation to our project will improve our STEM classroom by fostering the love of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for all students.
This will change our students' lives for the better because they will be exposed to the love of STEM while having fun at the same time. While ensuring that they will be able to compete globally with everyone around the World.
