STEM Items: a Brooder Box, Books, Baby Oil and Bottles

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year, I hatch chicks (and now ducks) in my classroom. I bring my cage and brooder back and forth to my home every weekend. Having at school a brooder box with a flip top lid and clear glass tops and windows allows for easy access to the chicks and ducks from the top of the box and will make for happy and safe birds.
A brooder box with three heat lamps and one temperature control will allow me to bring the farm into our classroom.
We can hatch chicks and/or ducks. The children will be able to play with the little critters and get hands-on experiences with live animals and gain farm experiences. They will learn responsibility, care, safety, hygiene, and love. The books will help me to teach my children even more about these farm animals. And the egg candler will help me wean out the non-fertilized eggs for a better growing environment.
The baby oil and bottles will help me to teach the children about oil spills and safety. My children will learn about the oils on a duck, and the safety we can take to care for all of the animals in the ocean.
