My students are eager readers! As first graders they make large jumps throughout a school year. They need books that have a sentence on the page to chapter books! They quickly read through books and are always on the search for something new and exciting! My students are located in the North-East section of Philadelphia. We also have a high ESL population. At J.Hampton Moore, we have a very large diverse community of students.
My Project
As a third-year teacher, I have only had the opportunity to teach in-person learning for two months. As students have not had the opportunity to be in school in person, we have not needed items for indoor recess. Indoor recess is a great time for students to engage in play-based learning. By giving my students a variety of STEM activities, they will be able to creatively build and engage in learning without structure. If students have a variety of items to play with, they will have the ability to manipulate a variety of toys to build and create. Overall, I hope to give my students fun and engaging items even on rainy school days!
