Help me help my students discover the unknown!
I work at a non-profit, federally funded program that helps children and their families that are at or below the poverty line. I have 2 part-day classes of 17 students each. The children range in age from 3 to 5 years old. They are an inquisitive group of kids that need their minds stimulated. They love to learn by hands on activities. I would love to provide my students items that they can utilize to boost their curiosity and knowledge.
My Project
STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. These areas are key in a child's learning. They are also the areas that are lacking in preschool. I would like the STEM exploration table to show my students just how fun STEM can be! This table will help support their natural curiosity by giving them the opportunity to learn by using their hands. This table will get them started on a lifelong journey of experimenting and exploring!
The STEM Exploration table can do so much!
It has 6 panels for the children to use, including; a whiteboard, chalkboard, magnetic board, magnifier, mirror, and my personal favorite, a heat-sensitive board. The students can use the panels to practice writing, see how magnets work, see how things reflect in a mirror, and see how temperature can affect things. We will also utilize the bins for sensory activities where the students can learn through sensory play.
