Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of 8- and 9-year-old kids who come from a bicultural environment. They are really smart and try hard every single day. I love them because they teach me how to be a better person. In our school, we are a big family: we teach our students writing, science, art, etc., but also we teach them to be kind and respectful.
Together, we are working really hard to provide our students the opportunity to go to college because for some of them that are their only way to improve their quality of life.
My Project
Having STEM materials in my science class will give me the opportunity to teach lessons that allow my students to focus on real-world issues and problems.
STEM lessons are guided by the engineering design process that gives my students the opportunity to realize everyone can be a scientist.
STEM lessons immerse students in hands-on inquiry and open-ended exploration. STEM learning is open-ended; at the same time, the students’ work is collaborative and solutions are student-generated. These lessons will involve students in productive teamwork.
STEM applies rigorous math and science content to what the students are learning. STEM lessons purposely integrate content from math and science subjects.
