Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a physical education teacher at a Title I school, which has a large demographic of economically disadvantaged students. The students are eager to move and greatly enjoy using equipment and learning new sport games. Ours is a neighborhood school in an established community. The students deserve a rich, engaging experience in physical education. I strive to provide that.
I have witnessed first hand the happiness and enthusiasm my students display upon accomplishing their goals.
Finding funds to add resources to my physical education program can present quite a challenge. Imagine the excitement of my students if new equipment were to arrive in our gym!
My students are eager to move and learn in physical education. The campus is an older campus in a neighborhood community. The parents are supportive of their students and the school. It is a caring and committed campus and school community. We simply need support in adding more equipment and resources for the students to use in physical education.
My Project
I am requesting equipment and resources that will allow me to create activities that integrate STEM concepts through physical education. Spikeball and soccer have direct connections to math. Jump ropes and hula hoops are basics that help keep students active and build health fitness skills.
Students can learn academic content directly related to STEM through physical education.
I am committed to my students and helping them get the education they deserve.
