My Students

We're working on wonderful STEM projects as part of our project based inquiries. The projects look great on screen, but we can't print. We need toner to be able to print our work so we can share our research.

I have a class of wonderful fifth grade students, who are highly motivated and enthusiastic learners.

We have been developing special projects related to STEM activities from science innovations for Toshiba Exploravision to NASA Design Challenge research. This class is a multicultural mosaic representing the global community at its best. We are from all over the world and speak many languages. We also live in New York City and our public school is located in one of the most diverse areas in the country, a considerable source of pride. We work hard to achieve academic success and the high expectations given the new Common Core curriculum's emphasis on informational texts.

My Project

We have expanded project based learning to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The graphics dimension and text the students have generated deserve display so that students can share their work. We need, however, toner to be able to print out our work in color. We are requesting high yield cartridges for the Donors Choose printer we received last year because high yield cartridges are the most economical. One can print far more pages for less money with these cartridges. The printer quality is excellent, but we have many projects to display and that requires a fair amount of ink. The toner for this level of quality, while reasonably priced, is beyond our financial ability to fund. Toner for an entire class to print becomes expensive.

Our request for toner may seem like a modest one, but our ability to print our work would have a considerable impact.

Imagine the displays for parents to see on our bulletin boards in the classroom and in our hallways. Then there are the submissions of our projects that have to be sent to Toshiba Exploravision and to NASA for its design challenge. Printing our work is crucial to the projects. We hope Quill agrees through its support of this proposal. Thank you.
