Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Expanding our classroom hydroponics system will give my students the opportunity to experience the full journey from farm to table—right inside our classroom! By adding more grow pods and a larger hydroponic setup, each student will have the chance to take part in hands-on planting, maintaining, and harvesting. These materials will make it possible for our students to observe plant growth up close, collect data, and connect science to real-world sustainability practices.

Our goal is to help students understand how food can be grown responsibly and sustainably, even in small spaces.

Through this project, students will explore important STEM concepts such as the water cycle, photosynthesis, and resource conservation, while also developing teamwork, responsibility, and problem-solving skills. Watching their plants grow and later sharing that food with classmates will build a sense of pride and connection to the world around them.

My students are curious, creative, and eager to learn by doing. Many of them thrive when lessons are interactive and hands-on, and hydroponics gives them a chance to see science come alive. This project will empower them to become thoughtful learners and environmental stewards—understanding that even small actions can make a big impact.
