We are a Pre-K through 6 building and a Title I school. We long to give opportunities to our children. We encourage students to be leaders, thinkers, be creative, and be kind.
STEM is messy, STEM is loud, STEM is exciting, STEM is fun, STEM is being creative, STEM is exploring, STEM is something I want to happen in my room.
Currently I have some basic STEM items, but I'm looking to add to my collection. I have a group of students this year who I feel will greatly benefit from STEM activities. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
I want to have my students use STEM bins in my classroom. So far I have been able to build 7 bins on my own with my own money. The building blocks and magnetic tiles are the most difficult for me to get.
I will present challenges and tasks for kids to complete with the building blocks and magnetic tiles.
Sometimes it will be math based challenges, sometimes it will be creativity based challenges, and sometimes writing will be involved on how and why they built what they did.
I feel that giving my kids the opportunity to be creative, messy, and collaborate with their peers will help them grow and be ready for their future.
