Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Worksheets are boring! Reading books about engineering projects is fun, but it is even more fun to get hands-on with the concepts we are learning!
I teach 24 wonderful first graders in San Jose, CA.
Almost all of my students live below the poverty line and qualify for free and reduced price lunch. Most of them are even learning English as a second language! My students don't let any of that hold them back. They get to excited to solve problems, work with their hands, and use technology. They love to explore and learn.
My Project
I am requesting 2 Real-World STEM Challenge Kits. These kits will allow my students to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and hands-on way. They absolutely love to solve problems. These kits will have them work together to do things like building a parachute, build a raft, and explore different STEM careers. They will also learn valuable lessons about working together and how to solve problems with others.
These kits will make my students use their brains for more complex tasks.
They will have to identify the problem, make a plan, execute their plan, and then make adjustments. They will do this all while working together. They are going to learn so much from these kits and they will do this while working together.
Thank you so much for taking an interest in my class!
