S.T.E.M. Forensic Science, Geology, and Physics

My Students

My amazing students are always full of questions and engaged! We are a Title 1 school located right outside of the city and are a very diverse student population.

In this STEM class, students are engaging in scientific practices and developing critical thinking skills by applying these scientific concepts and practices to their everyday lives.

The three subjects my students are engaging in are geology, forensic science, and physics all of which will include weekly hands-on activities and experiments.

What I love the most about my students is their own background knowledge that they bring to class. They make these unique connections between science in the classroom to science practices that they naturally do everyday.

My Project

The notebooks will provide a space for students to record notes and data. In this course, students will be tasked to design and execute experiments and the notebooks provide the space to do so. The folders will also be a place for students to keep their lab sheets, worksheets, and any other materials that they're unable to keep in their notebooks. In this STEM physics class, with the acceleration sensors, students will be able to take/record data doing live, interactive experiments outdoors. Interactive, outdoor activities like these will then engage students in scientific practices where they can practice critical thinking and see how science can be applied in their everyday lives. I am also teaching a STEM forensic science class where students will engage in scientific practices when trying to solve a crime.
