My students need a Sphero mini and Osmo Coding Awbie to learn the basics of STEM through learning! They also need Women in Science: 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed the World.
Imagine starting over every few years: new school, new state, new standards of learning. This is the reality my students face. My Title I school serves 100% military families. My students come to me with varying levels of knowledge in all subjects, and it is my job to provide them with the tools to be successful.
Thoughtful, compassionate and hilarious are just a few words that describe my classroom of students who come from military homes.
My students come to me with a variety of skills, strengths, and challenges. The goal of my classroom is to meet every student where they are and help them grow both academically and socially.
My Project
Understanding the basics of STEM is a skill that is useful in everyday life; especially for today's highly digital world! Children have creative and fluid minds that allow them to think in a more "out of the box" way. My students need Coding Awbie by Osmo to develop their computer programming skills while having fun. Students will snap physical blocks together to create sequences of commands. This will help them easily learn computer programming fundamentals.
With Osmo, STEM is approachable, creative, and fun.
I believe children learn best when engaged in creative play. Sphero Mini is very hands on but fun! When students are using Sphero they don't realize they are learning lifelong skills, they are just enjoying the game. Computer programming hits the technology strand of STEM while providing students with skills for the highly competitive world. Women in Science will provide my students with a mentor text about amazing scientist they can aspire to be.
