I teach an amazing group of inquisitive 5th graders. They love technology and are interested in learning about coding and robotics.
My students are eager to learn when given hands on experiences.
Students come into my classroom with a wide range of skills and abilities. Not all of them have experienced the power of hands on learning. When presented with STEM investigations they become more engaged and excited to learn. They collaborate, problem solve, and think outside the box to find solutions to the problems they are presented with. When given these types of learning experiences my students thrive.
My Project
I will use the LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Core Set to teach my students about programming and coding processes.
This project will build on my students’ interest in coding and robotics while giving them the opportunity to program robots, track processes, collect, view, analyze, and manipulate data.
They will use the software to carry out experiments, build simple programs and develop algorithms. Using this set will provide me with the student and teacher materials needed to successfully teach my students about robotics programming.
The LEGO MINDSTORMS robotics kit will also help develop my students' 21st century skills. It will get them to problem solve, think critically and collaborate. This project will positively impact my students’ learning.
