This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are always happy to be at school and eager to learn! This is my seventh year teaching Kindergarten at my school. I work at a Title I school in an urban environment. In my school, 100% of our students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
These students are smart students and very capable of succeeding when given the proper tools.
We use a lot of music and technology throughout lessons since my students are growing up around technology. We are constantly moving using music and dance. My goal is to make learning fun for my students.
My Project
Technology is not readily available in most of my students homes. So I try as much as possible to use it on a day to day basis, whether it be the computers, iPads or another form of technology. This year, I would like to introduce the Osmo kits. This kit is a coding kit that helps students with their math and reading skills, while they are playing a game! They will also be able to work on their problem solving skills through hands on activities. Students will also be able to work together, which fosters a sense of teamwork in the classroom which we are working for throughout the year.
