My students need STEM materials to help them expand their way of thinking!

My Students
My students come from a high-poverty low-income community. They live in the poorest county of New Jersey. Some of my students' parents work two to three jobs to take care of the bare necessities of everyday life. While their parents want the very best for them, the extra things in life may not be able to be provided. About seventy-five percent of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and cannot readily afford materials to help enhance their education.
My students have faced many challenges in their young lives where school tends to be their only constant.
In our first grade classroom, we like to keep things exciting. There are a lot of important skills that my first graders need to master before they are ready for second grade. They love working with each other and learning new things!
My Project
My students LOVE being "scientists". If you have never seen first graders transform from 6 year olds into scientists, engineers and computer programmers , then you are missing out. They love discovering things about the world through hands-on experimentation and activities. My students need STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) resources to help enhance their way of solving problems. STEM activities and projects allows students to think creatively and helps them to problem solve.
I want my students to be as prepared for their future as possible.
These STEM kits will provide my students with the learning activities they need to promote lifelong problem solving and critical thinking skills. I want my students to be successful in their careers later in life.
