My Students
"The development of language is part of the development of the personality, for words are the natural means of expressing thoughts and establishing understanding between people."
~Maria Montessori
I have an amazing class of 28 curious and energetic first graders. First grade is a year of exponential growth, especially when it comes to language. Many of my students are English Language Learners and all of my students are learners of academic language. I strive to create a language rich classroom.
Our school honors diversity and inclusion and we realize our children are not blank slates. Every child comes to school with experiences that enhance the learning of others. As a one of a kind STEAM and Classical Elementary School in Chicago we have the unique opportunity to provide a culture of enriched learning.
My Project
With hands on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math kits I will be able to enrich the classroom STEM exploration for my students.
I know that these materials will help my students develop an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
These hands-on kits include a STEM focused hands-on product that will help bring to life STEM concepts with supporting picture books.
Every book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care. Picture books give students who are not yet reading a chance to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math while learning how to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school and see their abundance of curiosity especially when reading to them. My students will be able to choose STEM books based on their own interests.
