My Students
My class is a Pre-K ASD classroom. I am a first year teacher and am starting out with nothing! ASD students truly benefit from sensory objects and different type of learning tools than general education students. I want to transform my classroom into a room that makes these students feel safe and ready to learn. I have big plans for these kiddos and can not wait to get started! Please help me help my kiddos learn and get ready for Kindergarten!
My Project
I have a class full of 3-5 year old ASD students which means they are autistic. They are the most energetic curious little kiddos. I really want to challenge my kids next year with more STEM projects throughout the year. I strongly believe every child can and wants to learn. There is a study that says that kids retain 4% of what they write, 6% of what they hear and 90% of what they do. I have added sensory blocks to put leading to my door so that we can count to 10 every time we enter and leave the classroom. The STEM supplies would keep my children engaged and eager to learn!
STEM is a perfect activity to challenge ASD students and satisfy their sensory needs!
