it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergarten students are naturally curious and eager to learn through hands-on exploration. By providing engaging STEM materials, I can help them build foundational skills in math, science, and problem-solving while fostering creativity, teamwork, and perseverance.
These STEM materials will allow my students to engage in interactive, meaningful learning experiences.
With solid three-dimensional shapes, my students will explore geometry by sorting, stacking, and comparing different characteristics. The magnetic place value set will help them visualize ones, tenths, and hundredths, reinforcing early number sense. Number bonds will give them a hands-on way to understand addition and subtraction, building fluency in math. Using magnetic whiteboards, students will be able to write, draw, and solve problems during whole-group and small-group lessons, making learning more engaging. Additionally, counting money activities will introduce financial literacy, helping students recognize coins and bills and understand their values.
In science, my students will explore nature with life cycle materials, sequencing the transformations of butterflies, frogs, and plants. The magnetic kit will allow them to experiment with forces and motion, sparking curiosity about how things move and interact. These materials will encourage hands-on discovery and help my students develop important critical-thinking skills.
STEM learning in kindergarten builds a strong foundation for future success. These early experiences will help my students become confident problem-solvers, preparing them for future careers in STEM fields.
