Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 90% of our students receiving free lunch. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics.
Our school is fully inclusive.
Inclusion in education is an approach to educating students with special educational needs. Under the inclusion model, students with special needs spend most or all of their time with non-special needs students. Inclusion rejects the use of special schools or classrooms to separate students with disabilities from students without disabilities. With the math and reading centers being at varied levels all students can work together and feel as if they are all one grade level working on the same activities.
My Project
During our 90 minutes math block, the time is divided into sections. First, I teach, then we work on the new concept together and then the students work independently. While students are working independently, I am able to assist students that are either struggling or need enrichment.
Having enriching math STEM exploration resources available to my students helps them develop better problem-solving skills.
Math helps us think analytically and have better reasoning abilities.
Analytical thinking refers to the ability to think critically about the world around us. ... Analytical and reasoning skills are important because they help us solve problems and look for solutions.
