This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. Confucius. My students can listen to me talk about science, they can see the pictures in the books, but they will not really understand it unless they are scientists themselves. They need hands-on activities.

My students are curious about the world around them and how things work.

They are eager learners that enjoy learning especially when they can engage themselves in hands-on activities. My students come from a low socio-economic area. They are surrounded by gangs. Most of the parents are Spanish speakers and we are a Title 1 school. Above all this they are eager learners. Our school has only 9 teachers, 5 kindergarten and 4 first grade.

My Project

My classroom is set up in groups. During science each group will have a STEM science station. The students will be working in groups to do the experiments from the STEM kits. Each time the students will rotate the STEM science stations. The students will be able to do the activity and then report what they learned to the class. They will follow the steps of a scientist.

With your generous donations my students will gain a love for science.

They will understand that science is hands-on and fun. They will be able to learn the science standards and this will help prepare them to take the science exam that they will have to later on in their schooling. It will help build the foundation of the future scientist, engineer, etc. My students come from an area where there are not many role models. We need to plant the seed that will help them be successful. Thank you
