My Project
I lead a STEM Enrichment class full of varying personalities. Eighteen sixth and seventh grade students, all with uniquely shining personalities! Some are carefully cautious, doing each project with thoughtful planning, and some are avidly social, doing each project with enthusiasm and excitement. It is refreshing to see them work together to explore new topics and achieve greater challenges!
My favorite part about this class is getting to watch special-needs students come alive in their design and craft, despite their struggle in other, more traditional courses.
This type of class brings out a diverse side of students you do not see otherwise, and I am blessed to be the one watching as future scientists, engineers, doctors, mathematicians, architects, and artists find their place in the world! We are requesting "Maker Materials" like straws, wooden dowels, rubber bands, pipe cleaners, and paper cups so students can create, build, and explore the STEM world. All supplies donated as a part of this Donors Choose project will be shared with the other two sections of STEM Enrichment at our middle school, hence the 60 students reach.
