My Students

I work in Detroit where ALL of our students receive a free breakfast and lunch, which means that we serve low-income families. I grew up in the area, and it’s a privilege to serve my community that raised me to be a teacher. I see myself in every student in my classroom. I see a bright future!

My kiddos are wonderful kids that inspire each other and me to be better.

Despite the lack of resources they are amazing kids ready to learn, and that's my motivation! My students are always eager to learn new things. Their creativity and enthusiasm completes our classroom. It is never a dull moment when you have a classroom of wondering brains exploring STEM ideas and bringing them to life!

My Project

My students need a book about simple machines and building STEM materials to use throughout the year as we cover different themes in our classroom. For example, when we learn about bridges we’ll read how bridges help everyone, and my students will build their own bridges using the STEM engineering building blocks. The laptop will help us search for videos of bridges and how engineers design them, which will help students with their models. I have planned various STEM activities for my students throughout the school year. STEM not only lets students think critically, but it helps students use creativity.
