Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a middle school Science and STEM coach. Most of our students are low income.

It is my goal that our students will never be limited in opportunities.

It is my hope to encourage students to use their curiosity and creativity to reach for the stars. Through the use of hands on and inquiry based learning our students should have the opportunities to engage in the world of STEM.

My Project

My students recently went to a district Vex competition. They were so engaged and excited by what they saw. Students from other schools allowed my students to engage with their robots and even experience what it was like to compete. Seeing their enthusiasm was overwhelming. They are excited to start building their own Vex robots and work on the code for the robots but we do not have the funds to make this happen for our students.

I am determined to find a way to feed their enthusiasm and provide them with the kits to bring Vex robotics and coding to life.
